Sheri Winston’s Women’s Anatomy of Arousal is quite simply the best sexual self-help book for female-bodied people and those who play with them I’ve ever read. Winston presents a holistic model of sexuality built on sexual, health, and pleasure. She writes with a sense of humor, adventure, and love, modeling the healthy, joyous approach to sexual exploration she encourages. Women’s Anatomy of Arousal presents a model of sexual growth and exploration built around exercises that can be done alone or with a partner. One of my favorite features of the book is the many illustrations and descriptions of sex, drawn from a variety of cultures across history. They present a much more accurate depiction of the diversity of female bodies and sexual practices than one usually finds in sex manuals.”

Brandy Simula is a doctoral candidate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Emory University.
