A new article claims that male macaque monkey in Indonesia seemingly "trading" various services (such as grooming, food, & infant care) for sex with females.

A recent research paper, “Payment for Sex in a Macaque Mating Market” was published in Animal Behavior last month. It follows the male macaque monkey in Indonesia seemingly “trading” various services (such as grooming, food supply, even infant care) for sex with females.

Even though the study tells us that there is no correlation between this and human sexual behavior, it is still fascinating to wonder if one of the oldest human professions hasn’t always been just for humans…
